Dr. Abdallah Akintola’s academic journey began at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (Nigeria), where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics and Extension. He earned a Master’s and PhD in Natural Resource Economics at Sultan Qaboos University (Oman), focusing on Free Trade Agreements and Non-Tariff Measures within the Indian Ocean. His qualifications include professional certification as an Associate Accounting Technician from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, awarded by the Accounting Bodies of West Africa.
Dr. Akintola has extensive experience in trade analysis, utilizing Partial and Applied Computable General Equilibrium Modeling which he mastered during his tenure with Data SPC Oman and the Humanities Research Centre at Sultan Qaboos University. He has also served as a part-time lecturer at Sultan Qaboos University and the Modern College of Business and Science in Oman, teaching courses such as Introduction to Food and Natural Resource Economics, Principles of Micro and Macro Economics, and Entrepreneurship while inspiring the next generation of economists. He has volunteered with the Oman Environmental Society and the Millennium Development Goal group to reach out to school children about sustainability.
Dr. Akintola has been awarded the group winner title of the Inter-college Environmental Public Speaking Competition in Oman (2017) and he secured 2nd place in the Sustainable Agrifood Management in Indonesia (SAMI) Summer Course Essay Competition (2020). He established and maintained for a while a catfish farm of his own.
Dr. Alintolah has published peer-reviewed articles on trade analysis and multi-disciplinary research using his experience in Econometrics. His research interests lie at the intersection of supply chain analysis, trade policy, and sustainable development, aiming to provide insights that integrate economic growth with environmental responsibility.
Dr. Akintola joined CINTRAFOR at University of Washington (Seattle) as a Post Doctoral Research Scholar in December 2024, researching the supply chain analysis of the global wood sector.
